What happens when local humanitarian leaders are equipped with the right training—and then immediately put those skills into practice?

Last week, 21Wilberforce partnered with Baptist World Aid to strengthen the humanitarian capacity of six Nigerian Christian nonprofit organizations serving communities affected by violence and displacement. Through intensive training based on internationally recognized Sphere standards, participants explored practical approaches to delivering humanitarian assistance that is ethical, accountable, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable families.
The training was quickly put into action.
One of the participating organizations, the Nigerian Evangelical Fellowship, recently led a humanitarian distribution in Plateau State with support from 21Wilberforce, providing essential food and household supplies to families displaced by violence and persecution.
This three-minute video captures highlights from both the humanitarian consultation in Abuja and the aid distribution that followed. It offers a glimpse of local leaders learning together, preparing to serve their communities, and delivering assistance to families whose lives have been disrupted by conflict.
At 21Wilberforce, we believe that lasting humanitarian impact comes not only from meeting urgent needs but also from strengthening the local organizations that will continue serving their communities long after a single project ends.
