In Nigeria’s Plateau State, years of violence have left rural Christian communities like Miango struggling to recover — homes destroyed, farms abandoned, families repeatedly displaced. This summer, 21Wilberforce partnered with Baptist World Aid and the Nigerian Evangelical Fellowship (NEF) to respond, combining hands-on training with immediate action.
With support from Freedom House, six Nigerian Christian organizations completed intensive training in humanitarian standards, learning to deliver aid that is ethical, accountable, and responsive to real needs. NEF put that training to work right away, identifying 70 of Miango’s most vulnerable households — widows, the elderly, people with disabilities, and families caring for young children — and delivering food and essential supplies to each one.
For Mrs. Amos Ruth, a widow raising her own children alongside four of her sister’s, the help arrived the night after she wondered how she’d feed them all. “This assistance was like manna from heaven,” she said.
