Wissam Al-Saliby Engages Texas Baptists on Global Persecution

In April 2026, 21Wilberforce President Wissam Al-Saliby connected with Texas Baptists through two meaningful opportunities to strengthen awareness and engagement around global religious persecution.

At the CBF Texas Spring Gathering in Austin (April 17–18), Wissam led a workshop titled “Christian Persecution and Baptist Responses.” Drawing on firsthand experience and deep relationships with local partners, he offered a clear-eyed look at the realities facing persecuted Christians today. Participants were invited to consider how Baptist communities can respond faithfully—through informed prayer, thoughtful advocacy, and tangible support for those living out their faith under pressure.

Wissam also spoke at a Persecuted Church: Report and Prayer Luncheon hosted by First Baptist Church Arlington on April 26. This gathering created space not only to hear stories from regions such as Nigeria and beyond, but also to pray intentionally for believers enduring persecution. Together, attendees reflected on how the global Church can stand in solidarity with those who suffer for their faith.

These engagements reflect a core commitment of 21Wilberforce: equipping churches with accurate, timely information and connecting them to the lived realities of believers around the world. When churches are informed, they are better prepared to pray with purpose and to support the work of trusted local partners serving in some of the most challenging contexts.

If your church or ministry is interested in hosting Wissam Al-Saliby for a worship service, special event, or conversation with your missions team, we would welcome the opportunity to connect. His insights can help your congregation better understand global persecution and discern meaningful ways to respond in prayer, advocacy, and partnership.
