Dr. James W. Carr Elected to 21Wilberforce Board

21Wilberforce is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. James W. Carr to the organization’s Board of Directors for a three-year term, which began on August 1, 2022.

“The mission of 21Wilberforce resonates deeply with me,” Carr said. “They have developed impactful tools and training to equip persecuted groups — the same groups I advocated for as a former Commissioner for the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. Astonishingly, the number of people being persecuted for their faith or belief around the world is rising. There is much to be done. I am delighted to join 21Wilberforce’s board as we continue this much-needed work.”

Dr. Carr is President and Chairman of Highland Home Holdings, an investment fund. He previously served as Executive Vice President and Professor of Business at Harding University for 25 years. Prior to joining the administration of Harding University, he served as an administrator at the American College Testing Program and in various administration positions at Florida State University. He has consulted with hundreds of colleges and universities in the area of institutional marketing.

Dr. Carr was nominated by President George W. Bush to the National Security Education Board in 2005 and served in that capacity until 2011.

In Arkansas, Dr. Carr serves as the Chairman of The Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board. He has served on the Board of Directors of World Christian Broadcasting for more than twenty years. He currently serves on the executive board of the Quapaw Council of the Boy Scouts of America, on the board of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and on the Business Board of First Community Bank. He has been awarded two gold medallion honor medals by The Martin Luther King Commission for promotion of racial harmony within the state. In 2019 Dr. Carr was appointed by U.S House minority leader, Representative Kevin McCarthy, to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.

“Our Board of Directors is comprised of a dedicated team of leaders committed to advancing international religious freedom and we are honored to welcome Dr. Carr to the board,” said Dr. Randel Everett, President of 21Wilberforce. “Jim adds invaluable leadership experience and perspective from across the public, private and nonprofit sectors. We are excited to channel Jim’s talent, expertise and passion into furthering our mission.”
