21Wilberforce Condemns Killing of Baptist Pastors, Calls for Peace in Manipur

May 13, 2026

21Wilberforce mourns and condemns today’s attack by an armed group on Thadou Baptist Association leaders in Manipur, India. Three Baptist leaders were killed: Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou, former General Secretary of the Manipur Baptist Convention, Pastor Kaigoulun Lhouvum, and Pastor Paogoulen Sitlhou.

We pray for comfort for the families and communities of those killed, and for healing for the five pastors and drivers who were wounded.

We are grateful for their lives of service and for their faithful work for Christ in Manipur.

We urge Indian authorities to thoroughly investigate and hold the perpetrators accountable for this senseless violence against men who dedicated their lives to serving their people and pursuing peace.

We call on Christians worldwide to pray for peace, reconciliation, and for God to protect and guide the Christian leaders engaged in peacemaking.

21Wilberforce remains committed to supporting church leaders in Manipur and across Northeast India who are working for peace. We stand with those bravely seeking healing and reconciliation and pray that many more will join them in bridging divides in their communities.
