Dallas Baptist University’s Institute for Global Engagement will host a power-packed conference, “Praying for all the Persecuted,” in late October focused on inspiring the church to pray and advocate for anyone facing persecution for their faith. Knox Thames, an international human rights lawyer, advocate, and author who has dedicated his career to promoting human rights, defending religious minorities, and combatting persecution, and Dr. Randel Everett, DBU Senior Fellow for Religious Freedom and Founding President of 21Wilberforce, are the event hosts.
With widespread persecution impacting Christians and other faiths worldwide, there is an urgent need for prayer and advocacy. During the Gathering, you’ll hear moving testimonies from Christians who stood firm for their faith despite jail and torture. And you’ll also hear from members of other religions who suffered grievously for their beliefs. Lastly, you’ll fellowship with Christians seeking to pray and advocate for the persecuted, regardless of beliefs, as a testimony of God’s love for all.
A dinner in The Great Hall, Mahler Student Center at 6 pm Thursday will kick off the event followed by a keynote address. Friday’s program runs 9 am to 5 pm and includes two keynotes, two panels, lunch, and a one-on-one interview. Keynote speakers are Andrew Brunson, Sam Brownback, Mariam Ibraheem and Rev. Dr. Elijah Brown. Featured speakers are Wissam al-Saliby, David Trimble, Ed Brown, Anna Lee Stangl, Tiffany Barrans, Bill Benac, Katie Fruge, Bob Fu, Rex Horne, Pari Ibrahim,Jewher Ilham, Artemis Kourosh, and David Trimble.
